Renovate Church
Renovate Church is a new church plant located in Muskegon, MI. Church Planter Dave Diller and his wife Misty have a heart to see God bring many stories together to participate in the unfolding of His greater story. David and Metro Hope pastor Jose Humphreys initially connected at a church planter’s gathering in Chicago and have worked intentionally to foster their friendship. The bond of “brotherhood” that exists between these two pastors extends to the church communities of which they are a part. As a community, Metro Hope is thankful for the partnership with Renovate and continues to support the work and calling of Dave & Misty in Muskegon. Continue to pray for Dave & Misty and the Renovate Church community: renovatechurch.org
Social Justice Missions
Act justly as a call and a way of life. The word justice can often be mired in controversy. As a matter of fact, the usual imagery we might visualize is that of picket signs at a protest, or a court TV judge setting small claims. The thing is, justice is somewhat broader than this. Theologian N.T. Wright says justice is essentially “putting the world to rights.” The world is a broken and fragmented place due to the effects of sin. So seeking justice is participating with Christ in the restorative mission of making things right, seeking the shalom or peace of the world. The beauty of the gospel story is that we get to participate in this spiritual enterprise through our daily lives.
In the summer of 2008 Metro Hope will partner with Derek and Liza as they travel together over the next year with a group of people to do justice work in Arizona and Bolivia. They’ll be living among some of the indigenous tribes in these areas.
Dream Act
The following Dream Act video is a service announcement Metro Hope folks created to inform communities about supporting the Dream Act Legislation (S. 1545). The PSA was produced by Joseph Martinez: The Dream Act
