This Sunday, we continue our “But I Will Rejoice” series. We are diving into the words of the prophet Habakkuk. Biblical scholars refer to Habakkuk as the “Yet, nevertheless” book, as he begins by acknowledging the harsh realities of the world, yet, nevertheless, turns his focus to God’s goodness. We, too, are living in harsh times, which makes turning to God all the more important. Throughout this series, we hold the tension between the dreary and hopeful, and don’t shy away from asking God the hard questions.

This Sunday, we will be joined by our beloved Pastor José! Together, we will be reminded that the righteous live by faith. Just like Habakkuk kept watch, waiting for God’s justice to come, we too are waiting with anticipation for wrongs to be made right. Unlike the pride and power that is dominating our political landscape, we are people of faith who wait with hopeful expectation. This waiting is not passive, but inspires us to actions of care and mutuality, knowing that one day God will finally answer our prayers for justice.
